The UCF Knight and his noble steed Pegasus have been an icon for many football seasons at the University of Central Florida. The university has had a variety of Pegasus mascots over the years, including horses donated by Burt Reynolds in the 80's, retired Darden Restaurant executive and current Board of Trustee's member Rick Walsh in the 90's and Medieval Times in 2001. That is when the UCF Alma Mater Society, UCF's distinguished Alumnus Award winners, established an official mascot program. The current Pegasus mascot is being generously provided by the "World Famous" Lipizzaner Stallions tour show, which is based in Central Florida. The UCF Knight and Pegasus make an impressive team that exude honor, bravery and a certain amount of mystery, as the rider is never revealed. Every fall semester students are eligible to submit applications to the Alumni Association for consideration to become the Knight. Once applications close, those students eligible to try-out are called for a private interview, costume fitting, and an extensive riding test. If all requirements are met, the rider is selected and begins his duties in the spring semester. We also offer Squire positions to students to help with events. If you are interested in trying out for UCF's Pegasus Mascot Program, please email the club at ucfequestrian@hotmail.com If you would like Pegasus and the UCF Knight to appear at your event, please fill out the Appearance Request Form 2010-2011 and email it to pegasusmascot@ucfalumni.com
